A 'Royal Vale' tea slop bowl with Imari colours and in excellent condition planted very generously with cheerful Narcissus 'Golden bells' and Tete a tete. Royal Vale china was made by Clocough potteries based in Stole and started business in 1897 and around 1907 moved to the Vale Works in Goddard Street, Longton. In 1913 King George V and Queen Mary visited the Vale Works and the company received a royal licence and 'Royal Vale' was adopted as a trade name.
The transferware pattern is handpainted and the bowl is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The narcissus are in early tight bud and will flower for weeks and can then be planted out into the garden to flower again next season.
